The Power of UV Disinfection

UV disinfection uses ultraviolet light in the germicidal wavelength range between 200 and 300 nanometers. The optimum wavelength for effective disinfection is 264 nanometers, located within the UV-C spectrum.

When microorganisms are exposed to germicidal UV light, they are either destroyed or rendered incapable of reproducing. The high energy UV-C light is absorbed by the DNA of bacteria, viruses, spores, and other pathogens. This absorption disrupts their DNA structure, preventing replication and eliminating their ability to infect.

A sufficient UV dose can achieve up to 99.9% reduction in bacteria.
